Job Description
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in designing sheet metal products—from the development and prototyping stages through to release for serial production.
Responsibilities
• Designing electronic enclosures, boxes, chassis, panels, and mounting brackets.
• Designing sheet metal components for laser cutting, bending, welding, and assembly processes.
• Creating 3D models, flat patterns, production drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize quality, costs, and production lead times.
• Specifying materials, thicknesses, tolerances, weld requirements, finishes, and surface treatments.
• Designing mechanical interfaces for electronic boards, connectors, cabling, and system components.
• Overseeing prototyping, evaluating manufacturability, troubleshooting engineering issues, and providing support to the production floor.
• Collaborating with production engineering, quality assurance, procurement, and subcontractors.
• Managing drawings, BOMs, engineering changes, and configuration control.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with proven experience in sheet metal product design.
• Experience in designing electronic enclosures or complex industrial housing.
• High proficiency in SolidWorks or Siemens NX, including sheet metal design and the creation of production drawings.
• Practical understanding of laser cutting, waterjet, bending, welding, and assembly processes.
• Experience in preparing drawings, defining tolerances, and interpreting technical specifications.
• Ability to support a product from the development stage through to serial production.
• Good command of technical English and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
Significant Advantages
• Prior experience in defense, aerospace, or military sectors.
• Experience with PDM/PLM systems and configuration control.
• Familiarity with quality processes, FAI (First Article Inspection), and manufacturing process improvement.
• Experience working with suppliers for sheet metal, welding, painting, and surface treatments.
Personal Skills
• Engineering mindset and problem-solving capabilities.
• Precision, a strong sense of responsibility, and attention to detail.
• A hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively with the production floor.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and lead the process from development to production.
